Post-Earthquake Relief Operation Conducted by HRWF/Nepal in its Coordination

So far we have reached 13 schools of 9 districts, and distributed relief materials like; bags, uniform, jacket, raincoat, trousers, shoes, books, stationary to more than 2000 students.
Kathmandu District
We distributed relief materials in schools of Kathmandu district as these schools lie in areas which were badly affected by the earthquake. The schools were difficult to reach due to bad roads and the moreover, the season being monsoon the roads got worse and made our travelling experience more challenging. The names of the schools visited are:
Pokharichour Primary School, Nanglebhare, Kathmandu

Manichur Primary School, Bajrayogini, Kathmandu

Lalitpur District
Relief materials were also distributed in schools of Lalitpur, this time also villages hugely affected by earthquake as well as those that had more population of poor and indigenous community was chosen. The schools are:
Gupteshwori Lower Secondary School, Pokharichour, Lalitpur

Sindhuli District
Livelihood opportunities in rural areas with no access to road transport is minimal. As a result, rampant poverty can be seen in the village and even more in communities of Dalit (untouchables) people. Sindhuli is also a district severely affected by the earthquake. To cater to one such village , we reached Dumja VDC of Sindhuli district to support the school going children here.

Ramechhap District
We reached such a village to distribute relief materials where transportation was inaccessible. It was really challenging to climb uphill for 5 continuous hours to reach the village which is not the preference of most humanitarian agencies.

Kavre District
Kavre is also severely earthquake affected zone. The village where we distributed relief materials is popularly known as kidney village where people are selling their kidney for their livelihood.

Sindhupalchowk District
Sindhupalchowk district lies in the Himalayan region. The school we selected is the school of poor and marginalized community whose livelihood opportunities are very limited at all times and where earthquake has made it even more worse.

Dhadhing District
Dhadhing district is also one of the earthquake devastated districts. In this district, we had identified two schools where children were finding it hard to resume schools because of the destruction and the trauma they were going through

Nuwakot District
Nuwakot district is also highly damaged district by the earthquake. In this district, we had identified two schools where children of poor and marginalized community are studying.

Gorkha District
Gorkha district was the epicenter of the 2015 mega earthquake. In this district, we identified a school where the children of Muslim, Dalit and Fisherman communities are studying.
